Why file, and when

Registering your company does not protect its trade name: the Trade Register and the trademark register are two different things. Without a filing, a competitor can register your name and prevent you from using it. The right time is at launch, before investing in signage, a website and marketing materials.

What a class is

Protection only applies to the goods and services designated, which are divided into international classes. A mark filed for restaurants does not protect you in clothing. The number of classes determines the scope of your protection — and the amount of OMPIC fees.

The real cost

OMPIC charges a fee per class, plus publication in the Official Bulletin. Our packages include these fees: the price shown is the price you pay, with no extra cost discovered along the way.
